Impact:
It was very challenging for me to tackle whether they understood a concept or not because they seemed nervous to even look at the subject. I had to tackle ways to make it easy for them and allowed them to understand that I won't bite if they ask me the same thing 500 times. I learned patience and understanding because every once a while they would stop responding completely so I had to find out more ways to make them answer regardless of the answer being correct.
Report:
It was my first session with the 2 girls.I took the session from 4 pm to 5pm. I started by introducing myself and then asked them to introduce themselves. I was instructed to teach them maths of grade 8 - I had prepared material for them to learn square roots and cube roots. I started asking them basic questions which led me to an understanding of how much they knew about certain concepts. Turned out, they didn't know a lot so I had to go very slow around the basic concepts of maths like integers, decimal, fractions. then I tested them around the same concepts. It took them longer than I expected to grasp the concepts so I had to break them down for them but in the end, they could answer the questions correctly. so the time invested in the basic topics was worth it as it built their base for future problems.
