It felt good to know that I could spread my knowledge of English with those little ones. I liked how far I went to make them comfortable and keep them interested. The kids were trying their best to answer my questions and were polite, and keen to learn. I really liked that they were as interactive as they possibly could be. They wrote stuff down when I told them to and caught on to stuff real quick. They were initially shy but grew into the session nicely. And I observed that I found new ways to interest them and teach them.
Report:
This was my first ever session with the kids. I was instructed to teach them English at 6 pm. Since there were two kids in the class, one in grade 4 and the other in grade 2, I had to make sure how fluent both of them were in English. I made them introduce themselves, taught them the basics of introducing: name, age, hobbies ( taught them the meaning of hobbies)- corrected them in certain places. Then I analyzed their reading skills by making them read a very easy-to-read poem by Kenn Nesbitt. I understood that even the child in grade was able to read with a certain amount of assistance. Then I went ahead and taught them the concept of male and female, the difference between a poet and, a poetess, and the understanding of rhyming words. After that, I asked them to identify the rhyming words in an easy poem. Both of the kids were answering well and that gave me a good idea that they understood a lot in the class. I asked them to note some of the important stuff down.
