There’s no communication if there is not comfortability, you cannot add value to somebody’s life if they are not comfortable with you, this is how Mr. Ankur Agarwal, a teacher in The Art of Living Foundation, a youth mentor, a life coach and also a rural community development trainer, started his interactive session on ‘What is intelligence?’.
From the very beginning he made sure that nobody is uncomfortable or left out. He made sure everybody is present there with not only their body but with their minds too. He also mentioned the fact that we are only comfortable with the people who do not judge us, hence, in the room where the session was taking place, he wanted to create an atmosphere where each of us belong to each other and there is no judgement against anyone. He wanted the session to be such that we take back something substantial from it and after the session he wanted each one of us to be a different person altogether.
He did not just put upon us his thoughts of what intelligence is but he took answers from us and elaborated it in the correct manner. He asked us to give ourselves the permission to be wrong and not focus much on what the right answer to the question ‘What is intelligence?’ is.
He made us do an exercise to point out what we think about intelligence. He asked us the question and we pointed out some definations of intelligence according to us such as,
1. Intelligence is nothing but the sense of judging and taking action at the right moment.
2. Intelligence is nothing but not getting influenced by others rather using your own intellect for knowing what’s right or wrong-discretion.
3. Intelligence is something which enables us to use our own mind and decide what we want to do or to take things forward or maybe stuck on them or not.
4. Intelligence is above average.
5. Intelligence comes naturally, when you don’t have to put an extra effort.
6. Being conscience and aware of everything that inside and outside you.
He made us aware about the fact that we do listen through our ears but our mind is the one actually hearing, we do look through our eyes but our mind is the one actually looking. He mentioned that according to his experience, mind should never be controlled instead it should be something which we are always aware of.
He mentioned the perks of being aware of our minds and how things easily get sorted when you are actually aware.
We came to an end of the session as we meditated for five minutes and tried being aware of where our mind is.
It was a prolific session and we all came out of the room with positive and aware mind.
